Job Description

About the role

The Manufacturing Technician position is responsible for the optimization of manufacturing processes to produce building component products and Modules to ensure safety, quality, cost, and efficiency goals are achieved. The Manufacturing Technician utilizes lean manufacturing tools to continuously improve manufacturing processes and uses data to drive decision making and support. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of data analytics and has demonstrated exceptional results in continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrating and leading by example, in the pursuit of producing Right The First Time, Safely and Efficiently.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; collaborating with equipment vendors.
  • Improves manufacturing process efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout through Value Stream Mapping and other lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Optimizes manufacturing processes to ensure the highest levels of product quality, manufacturing lead-times reductions and lowest cost manufacturing techniques through the use of lean manufacturing tools; 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma and Total Quality Management applications as applicable.
  • Support the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
  • Monitors and improves the safety, output, and efficiency of manufacturing processes through the measurement of key process indicators (KPI's) in support of the overall organization.
Qualifications
  • 2-5 years in a manufacturing role preferred, with recent college graduates being considered.
  • Construction experience preferred, but not neccessary.
  • Green or Black Belt certification in lean / six sigma techniques is desired.
  • Unfailing focus on customer service with a proven ability to deliver quality results on-time.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interface with senior management, as well as hourly staff.
  • Passion for VBC's mission and real belief in the company's value proposition.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Wood Science, Renewable Materials or related technical field.
  • Experience utilizing software platforms such as, Minitab, SAP, Arena Simulation, MS Power BI, and MS Visio, is highly desired.
  • Hard working, friendly, highly flexible, and adaptive, results-oriented, passionate.
