The professional in this position will be focused on raising philanthropic support for programmatic and capital initiatives at Stanford Health Care and will report to the Senior Director of Stanford Health Care, Medical Center Development.

As


Development Officer , you will support and enhance the success of the Major Gifts development efforts for Stanford Health Care, along with overall Stanford Medicine priorities and initiatives.

You will have the strategic skills necessary to balance prospect identification and solicitation, proposal development, and coordination of internal support activities, while building donor centric, meaningful, relationships.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development for Stanford Health Care, you will work with hospital leadership, volunteers, and other university constituencies to establish and maintain stellar relationships on behalf of Stanford Medicine.


JOB PURPOSE:


The position will directly manage a portfolio of approximately 80 annual giving, leadership level, and major gift level prospects capable of making a gift up to $500,000.

This role will focus on building the donor base and philanthropic revenue for key hospital and clinical care delivery priorities.

In addition to direct donor work, this position will provide project management support to the SHC team, including tracking and reporting responsibilities, event management, and collateral development.

The role will serve as the MCD liaison and content expert for at least one programmatic area within SHC.

Fundraising and Portfolio/Pipeline Development (50%):


Builds and develops a portfolio of up to 80 prospects for key SHC and SHC Tri-Valley hospital and clinical care delivery priorities areas with the goal of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding their support.

Conducts prospect discovery work sourcing prospects through reporting, data analysis, qualification, and research; both for the PM portfolio and for aligned gift officer portfolios.

Establishes relationships with individual prospects through personal visits, phone calls, and cultivation/engagement activities reflective of donor interests to maximize support

Prepares leadership agendas and subsequent data components, including prospect lists to review and any indications of prospect inclination or interests.

Attends SHC leadership meetings as needed.
Works in partnership with SHC teams and gift officers to develop strategies for solicitation. Writes proposals for prospective donors in gift officer and PM portfolios.
Implements strategies to renew annual giving, increases giving levels, and recaptures lapsed donors.

Prioritizes prospects, prepares background information, recommends volunteer assignments as appropriate, and follows up with volunteers to ensure completion of assigned solicitations.

Supports aligned gift officers at donor meetings and prepare research, collateral, and proposals as needed.

Reporting, Data Analytics, Tracking Capital Giving Opportunities (20%):
Manage tracking database for SHC naming opportunities and capital proposals.

Utilizes gift reporting and MCD databases to conduct data analysis projects, with the aim of sourcing major gift level prospects for SHC gift officer portfolios.

Works as the main liaison between partner teams, including the donor relations, reporting and research teams, to coordinate projects, requests, and deliverables for the aligned major gifts officers.


Events (20%):
Leads the development and drives implementation of the event strategy. Propose recommendations based on goals and donor base; strategically identifies and recommends donor groups to attend events and activities.
Manages overall arc of SHC led donor events and serves as the point person for event implementation.

Coordinates all elements of event implementation with key stakeholders and owners, including faculty, volunteers, gift officers, events staff and donors as identified.

This requires a high degree of sensitivity, diplomacy, and professionalism in working with these groups.

Works as the data partner for the event, creating the invitation list, navigating review process, obtaining necessary internal approvals, tracking on responses and conducting any ROI analysis if necessary.

Acts as the briefing partner for the event, drafting all leadership, faculty and prospect briefings that may be needed for the event.

Supports team in the preparation of draft briefing materials, letters, gift opportunities, priorities and overviews and other communication for faculty, donors, or volunteers.

Coordinates with the appropriate Medical Center Development teams and ensures the projects are on track and consistent with the developed strategy and MCD guidelines.

With the Development Coordinator, attends meetings to capture notes, next steps and supports the active follow-up.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, sit, and use a telephone, stand/walk.
Occasionally light/fine grasping, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, writing by hand.
Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class driver's license.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
May require working flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Regular travel may be required.
Valid passport for international travel.

The expected pay range for this position is $99,000 to $119,000 per annum.
