Designing IoT Technologies - Exciting Opportunity at Toyota Material Handling

Position Summary:

In this role, you will be in charge of incorporating cutting-edge IoT technologies into material handling equipment. Tasks involve developing new sensors, improving existing hardware, and integrating systems on a daily basis. The perfect candidate will be able to conduct research and complete designs independently while collaborating with different teams to ensure top-notch results. To thrive in this position, you should excel in working within a small but highly skilled team, taking direct responsibility for the development of components throughout the entire design and development process.

This hybrid position requires a strong commitment to on-site activities, potentially requiring relocation. However, the team is accommodating and values a healthy work-life balance.

Essential Duties:
  • Develop components using new IoT telematics technologies.
  • Drive innovation by evaluating new features and technologies.
  • Translate product requirements into functional specifications and system requirements.
  • Produce specifications documentation for component suppliers.
  • Participate in wire harness design reviews to ensure compatibility with system design.
  • Create and maintain various documents including design details, test plans, product manuals, and more.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software components related to OEM forklifts.
  • Engage in technical discussions with suppliers to address issues effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to guarantee manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of new products.
  • Remain highly alert and work safely at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electrical Computer Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in full-time Electrical Systems Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics design, including PCB and circuit design.
  • Basic understanding of programming languages like C and C++.
  • Proficiency in system integration interface tools such as CANalyzer, CANape, CANbus, etc.
  • Familiarity with serial communication, vehicle dynamics, controller hardware, and software.
  • Experience with diagnostic equipment like DMM, oscilloscope, and power supplies.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-cultural teams.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

This role may involve a variety of physical demands, including sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Extensive computer and telephone use in a typical office environment. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.
