Inova Health System's Fairfax Hospital is in need of an MRI Technologist to join our Unit team supporting our Radiology Dept. This position requires availability on Thursday-Saturday/ Friday-Monday (10 hrs) from 1pm to 1130pm. There is a Sign-on Bonus & Relocation option for eligible candidates. Responsibilities
  • Effectively communicates with patients to gather clinical history/informed consent for assisting the physician in optimizing examination performance and interpretation. Provides explanations of procedures to patients/families and addresses any concerns to alleviate anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.
  • Aids the physician in conducting various examinations following standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and sterile techniques.
  • Applies knowledge of IV's, heparin locks, and central line usage in relation to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
  • Demonstrates commitment to patient safety in the department through the use of side rails, braking systems, and patient monitoring. Reports, records, and resolves any adverse, unsafe, or unusual conditions.
Requirements
  • Certification - American Registered Radiologic Technologists, ARMRIT or CAMRT -CNMT certification as an alternative to ARRT is also accepted Upon Start. MRI certification must be obtained within 18 months of employment; ARRT registration in radiography or ARMIT, or CAMRT certification within 18 months of accepting the offer; Basic Life Support (BLS) required Upon Start.
  • Licensure - Licensed Radiologic Technologist ---Within 12 Months State Licensure is mandatory for all INOVA non-hospital Licensed centers, with an exception for those working onsite at an Inova Hospital.
  • Experience - No prior experience necessary.
  • Education - Graduate from an accredited radiography school or hold an MRI certification from ARMRIT or CAMRT, or be a graduate from an accredited nuclear medicine school with MRI training (eligibility for MRI Registry through ARRT).
