Staff Accountant for One Off Hospitality Group

DEPARTMENT:

REPORTS TO:
Director of Accounting
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing a wide variety of general accounting functions including journal entries, month-end closing procedures, and balance sheet reconciliations. This role will report to the Director of Accounting and ensure all entries, reporting, and analysis are completed in the proper period following GAAP. Also, this role is in charge of building positive relationships with external vendors and landlords to establish a reliable foundation for payments and reporting. Collaborating with the operations team members to guarantee accurate reporting and defined internal controls as outlined by One Off Hospitality. This position supports the accounting (AP & AR), finance, and reporting aspects for management, auditors, and external users.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Address inquiries from restaurant management promptly.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues.
  • Wholeheartedly assist the team in achieving the timely release of P&Ls.
  • Produce supporting documentation for annual audits.
  • Recognize and propose opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Support other projects as necessary.
  • Keep records in line with generally accepted accounting principles, encompassing the recording of general journal entries, cash management, and bank statement reconciliations.
  • Apply robust accounting skills, covering A/P, A/R, purchase backups, journal entries, and all accounting aspects through financial statement preparation.
  • Engage in activities essential to support operations and the managerial functions of the team.
  • Review and balance various accounts such as house and third party accounts, employee tips, service fees, corporate card expenses, and miscellaneous accruals.
  • Assist in monthly, quarterly, and yearly closings
  • Post and review inventory
  • Record intercompany transfers
  • Reconcile credit card transactions from Toast/Bank/R365, monitor chargeback disputes
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and track bank activities
  • Reconcile Third-Party Sales Tax
  • Audit Catering/Events Activity, specifically Commissions
  • Compute and Submit Sales Tax
  • Constantly develop and update SOPs to back our teams and streamline/unify our processes
  • Undertake special projects or administrative tasks as needed to aid the department and the company in reaching its goals and objectives
  • Inspect catering & private event commissions
  • Monitor operational accounting areas for irregular activities, such as fraud or errors, and support newly implemented audits
  • Handle daily accounting requests from restaurant and office managers
  • Assist restaurants, operations, and other staff with accounting operational issues
  • Safeguard the organization's value by maintaining the confidentiality of information
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):
  • Two or more years of accounting experience.
  • Previous familiarity with R365 is highly recommended.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
  • Precision and meticulous attention to detail are imperative, along with a solid record of reliability, confidentiality, and diligent work practices.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Ability to efficiently organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Attention to detail with an extraordinary level of accuracy.
  • Capability to interpret data and make cost-effective decisions.
  • Adaptability to work effectively in a fast-paced evolving environment with time constraints
  • Demonstrated capability to interact directly with clients
