Position Overview: As the Director of Finance, you will have a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our company. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the ideal candidate will manage and improve financial processes, offer strategic financial insights, and ensure compliance with regulations. This individual will work closely with various teams to drive financial performance and support key business initiatives.

  • Pay: From $120,000 per year
  • Job Type: Full-time, W2
  • Shift and Schedule: 8-hour shift, 40+ hours per week; Occasional work outside of office hours.
  • Location: In-Person, Detroit, MI, Potential travel to other locations in Florida and Maryland

Position Summary: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Finance will be a significant member of the leadership team, responsible for accounting, finance, and treasury functions. This professional will collaborate with the CFO on strategic planning, compliance, and internal controls. Candidates with strong financial modeling skills will be given preference.
The Director of Finance will engage closely with the Senior Leadership of each business unit and oversee all accounting functions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Finance Team Leadership and Development:
    • Supervise the finance department staff and oversee various financial operations.
    • Manage workloads, training, evaluations, and compliance within the Finance Department.
    • Mentor team members for their growth and development.
  • Accounting Operations, Treasury and Cash Management:
    • Handle all financial activities such as accounting operations, general ledger, payroll, and asset management.
    • Monitor and optimize banking activities to minimize costs.
    • Prepare cash flow projections for effective resource utilization.
    • Lead monthly accounting processes and ensure accuracy in all transactions.
    • Collaborate with teams for insights and projects.
    • Implement and enforce internal controls.
  • Financial Planning, Analysis and Insights:
    • Monitor and manage revenue, expenses, and profitability.
    • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes.
    • Work with departments for strategic plans.
    • Develop and maintain financial models.
    • Analyze financial data for decision-making.
  • Financial Reporting and Compliance:
    • Generate financial statements for leadership and Board of Directors.
    • Work with external accountants on tax matters.
    • Ensure data quality and reliability.
    • Prepare board presentations and audits.
    • Ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Strategic Initiatives:
    • Collaborate on new initiatives and partnerships.
    • Support leasing, procurement, and financial analysis.
    • Conduct due diligence for opportunities.
  • Process Improvement and Efficiency:
    • Drive continuous improvement in financial operations.
    • Streamline accounting processes.
    • Implement tools for enhanced productivity.

Education, Certification, Skills, Capabilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
