Position Summary:

  • The EHS Specialist has a pivotal role within the business to drive and embed Health and Safety to complement existing and future Warn Automotive policies and procedures.

Create a strong culture that engages employees. This includes championing Health & Safety efforts in regulatory compliance, injury prevention, workers compensation, and risk management. The EHS Specialist will also administer company Warn Automotive's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management System with the support of the Warn Automotive Environmental Engineer

Essential Job Functions Include:
  • Plan, implement and coordinate safety programs to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, reduce risk, control costs, ensure compliance throughout all business functions.
  • Develop and drive cross-functional teams, and projects to evaluate, develop and implement policies, training, metric assessments and hazard controls to ensure regulatory compliance and incorporate best management practices in regard to occupational safety.
  • Provide technical expertise to evaluate risks and resolve health and safety issues, including recommendations from incident investigations, and internal and/or regulatory audits.
  • Serve on cross-functional teams, facilitate audits, develop safety procedures, lead and/or participate in incident investigations and safety training, interact with operations and maintenance and interface with external regulatory organizations.
  • Develop and manage EHS programs in support of Warn Automotive's strategic and team-specific goals which would include creating a culture of injury-free attitudes, adhering to OSHA guidelines, developing accident prevention systems, and compiling statistical data related to exposure factors and reporting to business leaders.
  • Drive improvement and track goal achievement through collection, analysis, and communication of EHS and KPI data.
  • Active involvement in plant reviews of new equipment installations, product/ingredient introductions, purchasing specifications, new or redesigned work processes, ensuring employee safety.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, communication and reporting by writing EHS policies, conducting audits and hazard evaluations, maintaining program records, and working towards waste reduction and recycling.
  • Support, manage and improve EHS programs by acting as a liaison with outside organizations, maintaining safety equipment inventories, and managing daily EHS functions such as job safety analysis, auditing, and issue resolution.
  • Communicate in a professional, respectful, courteous, collaborative and effective hands-on manner with all employees, customers, vendors, visitors and others.
  • Contribute to a successful work group through positive interactions, active listening, meaningful collaborations, and the exchange of ideas to meet the organization's strategic goals.
  • Work with management/team members to provide counsel for safety and environmental protection, support EHS activities, prepare and administer training programs, conduct incident preparedness evaluation, and work with engineering and production on product safety and ergonomics.
  • Manage accidents/incidents by leading investigations, conducting incident preparedness, response, corrective actions, workers compensation, and compliance.
  • Accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, internal controls design and effectiveness, and legal and ethical compliance in the assigned area.
  • Responsible for prompt and regular attendance, as well as performing various duties as assigned.

Availability Requirements:

Due to the personal interactions, job-related tools, and availability of job-related resources at work, performance of the essential functions requires regular on-site presence and occasional after-hours availability. This is a full-time position with long hours and occasional weekend work as job duties demand. Travel may be local or out of area, primarily during the business day.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering or Occupational Safety field required. Minimum of three years' experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation preferred.

Familiarity with ANSI workplace safety standards preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Receive, understand, and respond to communications using available technology.
  • Work for extended periods in a stationary position daily while operating a computer.
  • Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as needed.
  • Maintain professional communication style for emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Analyze, process, and record data efficiently and accurately.
  • Move within the designated work area frequently, use a personal computer daily, lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, and perform bending and stooping as required.
Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

This position's job duties are performed in a shop or warehouse type environment with exposure to loud noises, cold temperatures, chemicals, and machinery. Occasional office work may also be required.
