Network Security Administrator

- The Network Security Administrator will be part of a vibrant team supporting university operations, focusing on network security operations and incident management.
- This position offers remote and hybrid work options, but don't worry, you may still need to be on campus when required.
- Responsibilities involve managing network firewalls, VPN systems, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and other tools to ensure network security. Vulnerability management and timely issue resolution are key aspects.
- Working closely with IT leaders and technical staff is crucial to deliver a high-performance, secure network for the university.
- The Network Security Administrator reports to the Director of Network and System Administration, playing a pivotal role within the Information Technology Services (ITS) operations.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
- Information Technology Services (ITS) supports the university's mission by providing the necessary information technology infrastructure, software, hardware, and support.
- ITS collaborates with various departments to deliver IT support and services that align with the university's strategic objectives.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field with significant experience in network security and server management.
- Technical knowledge of networks and network security along with familiarity with security standards is a must.
- Ability to develop and follow technical policies, troubleshoot effectively, and demonstrate strong customer service orientation.
- Preferred: Five years in network security roles, advanced degree/certification, experience with various security tools, project management principles, and knowledge of security policy requirements and controls.
- Experience with scripting languages, open-source management tools, and network scanning tools is advantageous.
