The System Administrator at Level One will engage in remote and field service calls for Beacon and its clients. The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience with monitoring tools, propose and implement enhancements to the production environments for increased stability, performance, and security in a large-scale multi-tenant Windows environment. Key qualities include excellent customer service skills, multitasking abilities, self-driven initiative, and effective teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining, configuring, and ensuring reliable operation of computer systems, networks, servers, and virtualization.
- Solid understanding of core networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, NATs, etc.
- Experience with Windows Server and RHEL including installation, configuration, and management.
- Installation and upgrading of computer components and software, management of virtual servers, and integration of automation processes.
- Troubleshooting hardware and software issues, documenting problems and solutions, prioritizing tasks, and evaluating issue impacts.
- Providing documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and executing new or upgrade IT infrastructure projects.
- Implementation and management of Backup and Disaster Recovery (BDR) procedures including regular backups and data protection processes.
- Offering technical services and support at a network level encompassing WAN and LAN connectivity, firewalls, and security.
- Proficiency in Office365 management and migration.
- Initial escalation support for tier 2 helpdesk support technicians.
- Strong emphasis on customer service skills.
Education/Certification:
Required: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Additional Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in network administration or system administration.
- Relevant system administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other related areas are advantageous.
- Knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of systems, networking software, hardware, and protocols.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools. Experience with PowerShell scripting is beneficial.
- Desirable experience in web hosting and as a Webmaster.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing IT strategies and plans.
- Strong background in implementing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, with expertise in security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Familiarity with Managed Service Provider (MSP) business operations is a plus.
