It is the policy of Job Squad that there shall be a description to provide essential information about the work activities to be performed and specification which shall identify education, experience and skill requirements relevant to adequate performance in the position as described. PURPOSE: Crew leader provides supervision of disabled and/or non-disabled janitors at any of our contract sites. S/he assists with scheduling workers, completing quality assurance checks and reporting, and completing progress notes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Physical dexterity and ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to train staff how to sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, strip floors, shampoo carpets, clean bathrooms, etc., and ability to inspect the crew's work. Ability to train and teach staff appropriate work skills/behaviors and interpersonal skills. Must have ability to work independently and have problem solving skills, flexibility, adaptability, basic math skills. Must be able to follow both written and verbal instructions and must have both written and verbal communication skills. Must have the communication and emotional skills to interact constantly, and the ability to prompt and motivate employees. Must have tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to the needs of people with disabilities. Must be able to make quick decisions, use good judgement and perform crisis intervention with people with disabilities.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. One year experience performing janitorial services and one year supervisory experience is required. The ability to use and/or be trained to use a computer, Microsoft office, smart cell phone, email, texting, calling, and scheduling/time keeping apps is required. Must have dependable means of transportation and valid West Virginia drivers license. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain federal security clearance according to FBI-CJIS clearance process, GSA clearance process, Aurora clearance process, as well as a state background check.

MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY SKILLS: Provides first line supervision to janitors; interprets and initiates standardized procedures, such as cleaning practices, employee evaluations, and schedules. Gives frequent instructions and handles problems and emergencies. Calls a Custodial Supervisor or the Project Manager when uncertain as to course of action.

GOODWILL/HUMAN RELATIONS SKILLS: The crew leader must be sensitive to the needs of and problems encountered by people who have disabilities. Must have the ability to prompt and motivate others to do their jobs. Must have the tact and diplomacy and has to encourage people toward a specific goal. This person has much customer and public contact and must understand people, disabled and non-disabled.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Perform janitorial duties.
  2. Supervises janitors performing cleaning tasks according to the requirements of the scope of work.
  3. Schedules staff and calls in substitute staff when necessary.
  4. Prompts and motivates others to carry out the essential functions of their jobs.
  5. Trains and teaches staff appropriate work skills/behaviors and interpersonal skills.
  6. Assists with inventory of supplies and equipment.
  7. Provides on-the-job training whenever possible.
  8. Promotes safety and provides safety tips and/or safety training whenever possible.
  9. Writes progress notes on selected employees with a disability.
  10. Fills in for staff as needed, such as a c ll of or scheduled time off.
  11. Travels to ALL contract sites, regularly.
  12. Update all contract specific data sheets, using Microsoft excel.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend training and meetings as required.
  2. Other duties as assigned.
