ITINERANT ELEMENTARY MUSIC TEACHER – GRADES TK-5

This position description pertains to all certificated personnel in the role of Itinerant Elementary Music Teacher for Grades TK-5

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with Music major, minor, or related field-work desirable
  • Valid California Teaching Credential with English Learner or Bilingual Authorization, e.g., Single Subject Credential for Dance
  • Single Subject Credential with Supplemental Authorization in Music
  • Single Subject Music
  • Multiple Subject Credential with Supplemental Authorization in Music

Reports To: Coordinator, Visual and Performing Arts, Educational Services

Duties and Responsibilities: Not limited to:

  • Design and deliver an inclusive, standards-based, comprehensive, and sequential music curriculum;
  • Center multi-ability, multiracial, multicultural, and multilingual artists and processes;
  • Focus on students' strengths, interests, and growth opportunities;
  • Provide differentiated instruction for all students;
  • Demonstrate student-centered pedagogy and critical thinking development;
  • Collaborate with school music teachers for content alignment;
  • Communication of objectives with teachers, students, and families;
  • Use data for curriculum planning and revision;
  • Monitor student progress and equipment inventory;
  • Knowledge of California Arts Standards and arts pedagogies;
  • Ability to teach global-minded music curriculum and employ inclusive practices;
  • Work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and support marginalized youth;
  • Differentiate instruction, support student needs, and showcase student work;
  • Scaffold engaging learning opportunities.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical Demands: Sitting, walking, standing, lifting up to 25 lbs., hand use, driving, and computer work.
  • Work Environment: Both indoor and outdoor work with high workload.
  • Insurance Requirement: Travel within the District, valid California Driver License, and vehicle availability with adequate insurance coverage.
