POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sr.

Director, Facilities Management & Construction (FMC) - Clinical supervises and trains clinical staff on all aspects of facilities management and construction as we continue to expand our ambulatory surgery center (ASC) presence.

The Sr. Director leads the FMC clinical portion of each project for Center Directors/Administrators and Corporate staff.

This position requires knowledge of the design and workflow of an ASC; the medical equipment and furnishings used in an ASC; the licensing, certification, and accreditation requirements of the respective State, CMS, and accreditation agencies involved; and all relevant building and life safety codes.

The Sr.

Director, FMC - Clinical works closely with a number of AMSURG departments in the development and renovation, as well as the relocation of ASCs.


Work Schedule:

This position is offered on a Remote-Centric Hybrid basis with the expectation that you will be required to come to our office in the Green Hills section of Nashville to attend bi-monthly department meetings and more on occasion.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Filters and assigns projects to the Clinical team within Facilities Management and Construction.
  • Trains, develops, and mentors Clinical Directors within the department.
  • Authors and leads training related to clinical compliance during construction for Center Directors/Administrators and Corporate employees.
  • Acts as Facilities Management and Construction's liaison to the Corporate Clinical team.
  • Works with a Construction Lead and the Operations team to define the scope of the project, including the equipment, furniture, and technology requirements for the facility being developed, relaying those needs to the Design team.
  • Works closely with the FMC Lead, Architect, and Engineers, providing input to the design of the ASC.
  • Works with the Interior Design team on fabrics, finishes, and furniture selection.
  • Prepares and oversees the equipment, furniture, and technology budget.
  • Works closely with Licensure & Certification staff to ensure timely filing of applications for State licensure, CMS certification, DEA, Board of Pharmacy, CDS, CLIA, etc.
  • Works with Clinical Quality Services team on AAAHC/JHACO accreditation applications as necessary.
  • Coordinates with Operations Team in the recruitment of Center Directors/Administrators when necessary.
  • Oversees equipment purchases with an Equipment Planner, tracking equipment, furniture, and technology purchases.
  • Works with Center Directors/Administrators and the Operations Team to complete letters of agreements, physician credentialing, policy and procedure manuals, ordering of initial inventory including medical supplies and pharmaceuticals, and assists the Center Director/Administrator in preparing for State and Federal surveys.
  • Ensures the ASC is ready for initial State & Medicare inspections.
  • Coordinates with contractors on the installation of fixed medical equipment.
  • Coordinates with Center Director/Administrator the delivery and set-up of medical equipment.
  • Works closely with Operations team toward the smooth transition from construction project to a fully operational ambulatory surgery center.
  • Maintains communication with Operations team to ensure continued compliance and support of new centers.
  • Participates in ASC renovation projects with the FMC and Regional Operations teams.
  • Facilitates design reviews with applicable State agencies.
  • Facilitates on-site surveys with applicable State and Federal agencies.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101), Healthcare Facilities (NFPA 99), and other NFPA codes applicable to the design of ASCs, and the inspection and testing of ASC Building systems.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge and understanding of FGI Guidelines for Healthcare Facilities and state licensure guidelines in order to work with architects and engineers during the design and construction of an ASC.
  • Travel expectation is approximately 35%.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Education and Experience Required:

  • Registered Nurse with 3-5 years of experience as a Center Director/Administrator operating an ambulatory surgery center.
  • 10+ years of Healthcare industry experience including related construction experience.
  • Proficient with PC computers and software, i.e., MS Word and Excel.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information.

Must be able to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency.

Based on business need, the ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings. Must pass a background check and drug screen.
