The Sr. Director of Planned Giving has the primary
responsibility for designing, directing, and implementing a
comprehensive program to promote and secure planned gifts to
support the University's largest campaign to date. The Sr. Director
will play a key role by developing and implementing proactive
strategies and leading marketing efforts to build the pipeline of
future support and raise awareness of legacy giving within Belmont
University. In addition to securing gifts from their portfolio of
assigned prospects, the Sr. Director collaborates with other gift
officers to secure new legacy commitments and leads stewardship
efforts for the Covenant Society, growing a program rooted in best
practices. The Senior Director serves as in-house consultant on
complex current and deferred gifts and champions a blended gift
strategy in a donor-centered, data-informed and highly
collaborative environment. The Sr. Director reports to the AVP for
Parent Philanthropy and Planned Giving and manages one direct
report, the Director of Planned Giving.

1. Program management and oversight. Operationalize short
and long-term planned giving goals and strategies to build upon
existing commitments and expand the current donor base of support.
Work collaboratively with the development team to ensure a robust
and successful planned giving program across the University.
Develop and implement the annual marketing plan to promote planned
giving and identify a continuing stream of legacy prospects through
mailings, seminars, referrals and alumni and constituent
engagement. Enhance stewardship for Covenant Society donors in
collaboration with the Stewardship team. Ensure policies and
procedures reflect industry standards and best practices for gift
documentation and administration.

2. Donor development. Manage a portfolio of 60-80
prospects, generate 6-10 prospect visits per month, and grow the
number of planned and blended git solicitations across the
Advancement team. Local, regional and limited national travel are
anticipated.

3. Serve as in-house expert on all deferred giving
vehicles, state and federal regulations for the planned gift
program. Utilize personal expertise and familiarity with deferred
giving vehicles to discuss estate planning challenges with
prospective donors and propose strategies for addressing these
challenges. Build and nurture strong relationships with financial,
legal and tax advisors.

4. Develop and implement training opportunities to educate
and support the advancement team. Partner, coach, equip and
encourage development staff to pursue planned gift opportunities
assisting them in the design and implementation of individualized
prospect strategies.
