Payroll Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
Compile, administer and maintain all aspects of payroll processing. Perform payroll processing for approximately 200 employees on a bi-weekly basis. May assist in other accounting administrative tasks such as support of Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Review daily, weekly, bi-weekly timecard transactions.
- Verify hours in enterprise resource planning (ERP)/material resources planning (MRP) system for completeness and prepare for upload to ADP Workforce Now Essential Time.
- Analyze payroll data to ensure accuracy and any errors are corrected including hours worked and pay adjustments.
- Communicate with cross-functional supervisors/managers regarding accuracy and completed time and attendance records.
- Input, review and audit timekeeping and other payroll related records.
- Review and submit bi-weekly payroll batch within required deadline.
- Process court-ordered garnishments, including but not limited to calculating deductions and responding to agencies and employees.
- Process final checks outside typical bi-weekly payroll batch.
- Review reports and correct inconsistencies and/or out of balance situations, resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Respond to employee payroll questions/inquiries.
- Troubleshoot payroll processing system errors and work with vendor to resolve.
- May assist with other accounting activities including but not limited to accounts payable and/or accounts receivable functions/tasks.
- Accounts payable duties may include reviewing, validating, and vouchering invoices into ERP system, investigate discrepancies and assist in weekly payment cycles.
- Perform general office duties, such as filing, answering telephone calls, and handling routine correspondence.
- Demonstrates ability to appear for work on time, follow directions from a supervisor, interact well with co-workers, understand, and follow work rules and procedures, comply with company policies and procedures, goals, and objectives, and accepts constructive feedback.
- Other duties as assigned, requested, or needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED).
- Minimum 5 years accounting experience or equivalent of education and experience.
- Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now and using ERP/MRP system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of California pay labor laws.
- Knowledge and ability to use ADP Workforce Now, Essential Time and Attendance.
- Knowledge of general accounting practices.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Ability to operate computers programmed with accounting software and or Microsoft office.
- Read and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to use select the correct mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
- Ability to take initiative and maintain confidentiality.
- Intermediate to advanced excel calculations.

Pay Rate: The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience with the industry, education, geographic location, etc.
