Manual Machinist

  • Shift/Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm
  • Pay Rate: $25+/hr
  • Location: Florham Park, NJ
  • Experience: 2+ years

PrideStaff has been asked to assist a manufacturing company in hiring a Machinist. We are looking for a skilled Machinist, someone who is able to use shop machinery with minimum supervision if none at all, someone able to do their own set-up, read blueprints, and run the machine hands-on.

Manual Machinist Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts
  • Measures and marks dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments,
  • accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.


Machinist Qualifications:

  • Mechanically inclined - Uses intuition and experience to complement assembly.
  • Must be attentive to detail.
  • Strong verbal communication skills needed. Responds to others and questions
  • appropriately. Able to read and interpret written information.
  • Must be a team player and dependable - Must be consistently at work and on time.
  • Professionalism - Accepts responsibility for own actions. Applies feedback to
  • improve performance.
  • Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, etc.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
