Position: Materials Engineer
Location: Oldsmar, FL
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Educational Requirements:
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or related technical field.
Work Experience Criteria:
  • Minimum of two years in a manufacturing domain.
  • Proficiency in materials science with an emphasis on polymer chemistry.
  • Familiarity with working in an ISO compliant setup; exposure to ISO 13485 or 10993 preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing medical device components or finished products is advantageous.
  • Desired background in catheter-based medical device design and production.
Physical Fitness:
  • Capable of lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Proficient in fine manipulation, handling small objects with precision.
  • Competent in computer operation (50% of working hours).
  • Ability to move around the manufacturing environment frequently and operate machinery.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Spearhead research and experimentation on novel or enhanced raw materials.
  • Supervise the adoption and integration of new raw materials.
  • Scout for alternative suppliers for raw materials.
  • Establish testing protocols and acceptance standards for incoming raw materials.
  • Define procedures and criteria for material blending.
  • Develop safety guidelines for hazardous materials usage.
  • Ensure material compliance with environmental and safety norms.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering on material application in new processes.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality Engineering on material indications and safety protocols.
  • Liaise with Applications Engineering and clients for new product innovations.
  • Plan and execute process validations using IQ, OQ, & PQ methodologies.
Skills and Capabilities:
  • Proficient in problem analysis and solution development.
  • Ability to assess and weigh pros and cons of different problem-solving approaches.
  • Effective project management skills for handling multiple concurrent projects.
  • Competency in deciphering customer drawing specifications.
  • Adherence to MicroLumen regulations, policies, and protocols.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant ISO Standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for seamless collaboration and communication.
