The Position
The Human Resources Business Partner is a significant contributor to Lumos' Business Plan, proactively supporting assigned people leaders and their teams in the full lifecycle of HR consultative services. Responsible for recruiting and staffing, employee relations, performance management and improvement systems, personnel changes, employment law compliance, employee onboarding and development, policy communication and consistent application, company communication on a variety of topics and issues including benefits and compensation issues, recognition programs, and other initiatives designed to drive Lumos leadership culture.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage talent acquisition process. Source, interview, screen and recommend selection of candidates for all positions in service area. Ensure that pre-employment processes are followed, and positions are filled quickly with high quality talent. Coach leaders on interviewing skills and recruiting best practices.
- Provide support to people leaders in all areas of culture and employee relations - including coaching/development, policy interpretation and application, performance reviews and the resolution of employee issues including terminations for cause.
- Set a regular cadence of meetings with assigned leaders, proactively consulting them through using people tools like performance reviews, succession planning, learning opportunities, and development plans for the ongoing development of their teams.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding organizational policies.
- Accurately maintain required information in Dayforce HCM.
- Provide employees with oversight and an understanding of their benefits.
- Process unemployment claims; provide guidance to FMLA and other leave cases.
- Manage administrative HR processes for maximum efficiency.
- Ensures that leaders and staff receive effective and appropriate advice and support on the implementation and interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
- Keeps HR team advised of any new legal updates, especially in other areas of footprint.
- Suggests metrics, tools and measures to help other parts of the organization.
- Proactively acts as integral support for projects to improve the employee experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- College degree preferred.
- Professional certifications preferred (SPHR or SHRM-SCP).
- 8+ years' experience providing Business Partner support to multiple leaders.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HRIS (preferably Dayforce).
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience consulting individual contributors, people leaders, and external entities through a variety of complex people scenarios.
- Capable of maintaining our culture and ensuring Lumos employees continue to thrive.
