Working closely with various social service agencies, police departments, victim advocates, and community programs, Casa de la Familia provides essential support.

About the Job Title and the CompanyCasa Community, a division of Casa de la Familia, is seeking Victim Advocates to join the Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART). Partnered with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), DART pairs trained officers with domestic violence counselors to provide immediate crisis intervention and support to survivors and their families.

Position: Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) Victim AdvocateWe are currently seeking a new team member to join our LAPD-partnered station. The role involves enhancing the safety and mental well-being of victims by customizing plans to meet their immediate needs, including safety planning, shelter placement, and transportation. The DART Victim Advocate also offers follow-up services, such as assistance with restraining orders and mental health resources.

Who You'll Work WithAdvocates operate from police stations, accompany DART officers to domestic violence calls, and assist walk-in cases.

Schedule
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends with flexibility
ResponsibilitiesWithin the first 90 days, you will:
  • Complete Casa's 40-hour domestic violence training
  • Integrate into the collaborative team
  • Offer services such as crisis management, case management, safety planning, advocacy, shelter placement, and referrals
By the end of the first 6 months, you will:
  • Establish yourself as a reliable Casa Community advocate
    • Contribute to outreach events and professional meetings
    • Participate in continuing educational opportunities
Requirements
  • Possession of a Domestic Violence Counselor Certificate (Training available if needed)
  • Understanding of domestic violence, child abuse/neglect, and stalking
  • Ability to build effective relationships with service providers and law enforcement
  • Demonstrated initiative and independence in workload management
  • Excellent communication skills and public speaking abilities

Additional Qualifications
  • Pass a background check
  • Mandatory: Proficiency in both English and Spanish
  • Hold an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in relevant fields like sociology, psychology, or social work
  • Proficient in technology tools such as Adobe Sign, Teams, and Microsoft Office
