Registered Nurse (Experienced RN or New Grad RN) - Duke University Hospital - General Surgery/Vascular/Trauma Stepdown Unit (2100): Duke University Health System is looking to hire a compassionate Registered Nurse who embraces the mission of Advancing Health Together.

Work Hours & Shifts:

  • 3 12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am) OR
  • 3 12-hour day shifts (7am-7pm)
  • 3 12-hour rotating shifts (50% days; 50% nights)
  • The shift options are subject to completion of a day shift orientation and a successful 90-day probationary period.

Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (or higher)
  • 1+ years of previous work experience as a clinical nurse for Experienced Nurses
  • All RNs without a BSN will need to enroll in a BSN program within two years
  • Licensure, Certification, or Registration Required:
  • Current registration with North Carolina State Board of Nursing
  • BLS certification required
  • Professional specialty certification preferred for Experienced Nurses

Unit Profile: The General Surgery & Vascular Trauma Stepdown Unit at Duke provides exceptional care to acutely ill patients. This 32-bed unit primarily caters to abdominal and vascular surgeries, abdominal oncology, and trauma patients. You will develop critical thinking skills in a fast-paced environment that fosters learning and teamwork. RNs on this unit aim to deliver top-quality care while advocating for patients.
Unit 2100 offers a chance to master skills including tracheostomy care, wound care, ostomy care, chest tube management, pain management techniques, and more. You'll work within a supportive team to provide excellent care.
