Job Title: Conventional Machinist

Shift: 6:00 am- 2:30 pm ( Monday to Friday)

Pay Rate: $25-$32/ hour

Key Responsibilities:

• Hands-On Machining: Set up and operate a variety of manual machining tools and equipment, including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, calipers, saws, and more.
• Precision Assembly: Perform tasks to assemble large industrial mixing equipment (think giant kitchen mixers for industrial use).
• Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand component requirements, scale, and dimensions.
• Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials for machining and ensure they are securely and safely loaded into machines.
• Tool Expertise: Select the right cutting tools, fixtures, and accessories for each machining operation, considering material type and job complexity.
• Quality Assurance: Use precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers or micrometers) to inspect workpieces, ensuring they meet specified quality standards.
• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on machining equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes, to ensure optimal performance.
• Safety First: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of machining activities, including setup details, tool changes, inspection results, and any deviations from specifications.
• Collaborative Independence: Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating with a small shop team, including a manager and foreman, to understand project requirements and provide input on design feasibility and manufacturability.

Skills/Experience:

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a conventional machinist, particularly with large industrial equipment.
• Must Have experience in Mills and Lathe, manual conventional machinist. Understand blue prints, measuring tools, calipers, and validate parts. Set up machines. Manufacturing mixing parts.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong knowledge of machining principles, tools, and techniques.
• Effective operation of various machining equipment.
• Familiarity with different materials and their machining characteristics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.
• Positive attitude, teamwork, and ability to work under pressure.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, and pulling of parts and containers.
• Ability to work in various weather and temperature conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, and cold.
