Position Summary:

Works closely department Chair and other employees to design original art and copy, layout of publications, medical and graphic illustrations, producing photographic and video imaging, and audiovisual presentations for the department.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Designs and creates medical illustrations at the direction of the faculty and residents; determines and executes relevant placement of media works in media outlets.

Confers with clients regarding assignments and advises as to the most suitable medium and

method of presentation; determines the most effective methods to be employed to achieve

desired results.

Efficiently captures, produces, edits, and disseminates photo, video and audio works.

Designs and upkeeps departmental newsletters (print and web- based) and departmental website

designs adhering to University brand standards.

Design and produce highly visible communications collateral in a state-of-the-art electronic

environment. Develop high-priority communications and specifications for assigned projects.

Creates and updates curriculum as needed to train new faculty, residents and fellows to enhance their research and publication opportunities. Training opportunities include preparing images and graphs for journal submissions and PowerPoint presentations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Must possess advanced technical computer skills and be an advanced user of Adobe Photoshop, In-Design, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Motion, Compressor, 3D Studio Max, Final-Cut Pro and Power Point.

Solid understanding of new/social media, and the tools that support them, including encoding media to standard web file formats, video and audio production systems and creative digital imaging, graphic design.

Must know how to operate an SLR and point and shoot digital cameras for photography and videos.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, judgment, and artistic design vision are essential.

Ability to manage multiple processes, priorities, and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Must be flexible with the ability to work evenings and weekends when needed.

Must have the ability to produce audio, video, visual and presentation outputs, capture and edit videos/photos of neurological procedures in the operating room, create multimedia presentations, produce interactive presentation displays, DVDs, streaming videos, design presentation templates, flyers and brochures for print.

Must stay abreast of current trends and developments in electronic publishing and design.

Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Communication, Fine Arts, Commercial Art, Design, or Advertising required. May substitute required education with equivalent years of experience beyond the minimum experience requirement supplemented by basic photography coursework and computer graphics training.

6 years progressively responsible experience in hands-on digital media production and project management, graphic design production, and art direction required.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
