Overview of Position:

The Employee Benefits Account Manager is responsible for both strategic and day to day aspects of account management for clients of varying size Middle and Large MKT as well as Small mKT. The Account Manager works in association with each of the Internal Benefits Departments (Administration, Billing, Systems Implementation, Underwriting, Account Exec, Producers) to ensure excellence in service delivery to our clients. The employee benefits account manager is responsible for strategically analyzing and designing group health and welfare solutions for mid and large market clients in a consultative manner. The account manager develops creative solutions to help clients manage cost increases, evaluate alternative funding arrangements, build employee contribution strategies, identify and navigate compliance issues, craft employee communications, and manage vendor relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Employee Benefits Account Manager:

Client Management

Develop and cultivate strong relationships at all organizational levels of assigned clients by demonstrating self-sufficiency in each of the following areas:

Expert knowledge of benefit plan design for all lines of coverage

Understanding of client culture and the place of the benefits plan in that culture

The ability to customize benefits plan to suit clients budget by leveraging plan funding mechanisms, plan design, employee contribution strategies, renewal negotiation tactics, RFP strategy, development, and execution, etc.

A clear understanding of compliance issues and solutions facing clients including but not limited to COBRA, ACA, HIPAA/HITECH, Nondiscrimination testing, FMLA, etc.

Outstanding customer service and responsiveness

Expertise in wellness strategies ranging from awareness campaigns to outcome-based incentive/disincentive programs

Timely delivery of work product such as monthly claim reporting updates and quarterly IBNR reserve calculations Leadership

Own client relationships

Take responsibility for continuous professional development

Cultivate strong relationships within the organization and clients carrier partners

Assist in mentoring and development of Benefits Administrator(s)

Work on internal processes and procedures to maximize client satisfaction and internal efficiency

Team Behavior

Communicate effectively internally and externally

Embrace corporate role as an extension of clients benefits department

Learn and understand roles of each department within the Benefits Practice

Disseminate client information to each respective department in a timely fashion and through the templates and processes established

Cultivate inter-departmental relationships

Qualifications of Employee Benefits Account Manager:

Capable of developing and executing unique benefits strategies based on specific client goals and objectives

Independent, creative, and solution oriented

Bachelors degree

2-7 years of consulting experience in employee benefits

Valid state Life and Health license required

Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

Excellent internal and external customer service skills

Self Funded / Self Insured experience is A plus
