POSITION OVERVIEW


Reporting to the President and CEO, the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications will think strategically and have a passion for detailed marketing execution.

The Senior Director of Marketing and Communications will collaborate with neighborhood centers, innovative social enterprises, advancement, and HR to comprehensively market the organization to the appropriate audiences.

This role will develop visionary and compelling marketing to drive brand awareness, differentiation, affinity, and preference.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)


Strategy and thought leadershipCreate and sustain agency visionGenerate solutions and lead strategic innovation that straddles the entire agency by working across the organization with key leaders and community to drive the work of storytelling and organizing strategyDevelop content strategy that positions Pillsbury United as a strategic leader in human servicesLeverage a variety of internal and external channels to amplify content and messagesDevelop and execute content plans and assets including articles, videos, visual infographics, etc.

Lead the policy agenda on a city, county, and state level to generate awareness and supportOperations and outcomes


Analyze data, trends, & needs for communications and marketingDefine goals for marketing & communications teams, as well as policy teamCreate processes + systems to drive change.

Assess + report impact to inform strategyEnhance website, digital, social media, and email campaignsEnsure the brand promise, positioning, and identity are consistent across all touch pointsEnsure competitive differentiation and drive consumer consideration, choice, preference, and loyaltyUse consumer insights, segmentation, trends and data to drive decisionsPeople and community development

Build networksInspire actionModel cultureOversee and lead a cross-agency team(s) of leaders and initiativesProvide leadership that inspires program staff to embrace and implement PUC's mission, vision and values in their workWork closely with programs, development, and HR department in the development of effective recruitment approaches that attract and retain the best talentOversee the marketing & communications departmentOversee the policy team and the efforts to identify, build, and prioritize key voices needed in advocacy campaignsFinancial Management


Full responsibility to develop/manage agency-wide or departmental budgets across multiple functions or impact areasSteward and solicit fundersIdentify new revenue and lead proposal applications.

Required Skills/Experience


10+ years of relevant work experienceUnwavering commitment to the mission and values of Pillsbury United CommunitiesStrategic ability to shift and refine messages for different audiences without compromising core valuesExcellent writing ability, communicator and storyteller; ability to make Pillsbury's work come alive through top-quality written materials, stories, and digital engagementStrong staff and program management skills, including experience supervising staff at different levels and across functional areasExcellent interpersonal and team-building skills; relationship-builder.

Ease relating to diverse individuals including those who don't agree with usFlexible and tenacious; creative and entrepreneurial; positive and optimistic when tackling challenges; high energy and goal directedAbility to maintain high standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism, including dealing with sensitive and proprietary informationExperience in dynamic management within a multi-site organization with an ability to move and inspire a cross-functional group with unified direction and common visionBA degree in communications, journalism, marketing or business related field preferredMaster's degree in related field preferredVast experience in digital marketing channels and tactics, SEM/SEO, social media, etc.

Understand or have experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator and/or InDesignProficient in Google Analytics, and MailChimp systemsOutstanding organizational and leadership abilitiesExcellent interpersonal and public speaking skillsAptitude in decision-making and problem-solvingDesired Attributes
