About the Position:

The Land Use Department at NYCEDC is seeking a Senior Planner to lead projects through the entitlement process, analyze zoning regulations, and manage various initiatives and projects aimed at fostering innovation, developing business districts, and delivering sustainable infrastructure.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of projects, prepare technical applications, and contribute to problem-solving strategies
  • Support project teams with land use expertise and approvals strategies
  • Ensure complex projects are delivered on time by proactively managing critical milestones
  • Communicate project recommendations effectively to diverse audiences
  • Interface with development partners and public agencies to build consensus
  • Oversee consultant work and attend public meetings and hearings
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned

Requirements:
  • 3 years of experience in urban planning
  • Master's degree in Planning or relevant field preferred
  • Expertise in NYC zoning and planning, environmental regulations, and stakeholder management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Results-focused with a collaborative approach
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, GIS/AutoCAD a plus
  • New York City residency required within 180 days of hire
