The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for assisting the Retail Sales Controller with accounting activities in support of the Companys 70+ company owned retail sales centers. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, experience with MS Excel, and strong analytical skills. The position will report directly to the Retail Sales Controller, and will need to demonstrate the ability to work proactively and independently in a fast-paced office environment.

What will I do?

  • Develop relationships with the sales team and provide exceptional customer service while maintaining the proper controls
  • Records sales and commissions for the regions assigned, ensuring proper documentation for revenue recognition.
  • Monthly review of sales accruals and other accounts to ensure compliance with the companys policies and procedures.
  • Prepares journal entries, and reconciles accounts and balance sheets.
  • Prepares financial statements and reports, and assists with monthly closing processes.
  • Review assigned financial statements and trends to identify potential issues and/or document variance analysis.
  • Provide support for financial audits.
  • Analyzes current accounting policies and procedures, and recommends changes as part of continuous improvement.
  • Responds to information requests, researches and interprets data, and answers accounting and financial questions.
  • Meets processing and reporting deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and overall system skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Able to read and understand financial reports
