Caregivers assist elderly or disabled clients in their homes with activities of daily living.

These duties include preparing meals (may include special diet), mobility/transfer, bathing, grooming/dressing, reminding clients about medications, cleaning living area, laundry, shopping/errands, making client's bed and/or changing linens, encourage and educate clients, assisting clients in communication needs with doctors, transportation, etc.

Caregivers have to maintain records of services performed for each client.

Caregivers will also assist clients in and out of bed, using a wheelchair, up and down stairs, and around their house using proper lifting techniques and support equipment for weight bearing clients.

Caregivers will also be responsible for universal precautions and preventing the spread of disease. Caregivers must also be able to acknowledge an emergency situation and know when to contact 911.

Requirements:

Must be 18 years old. Must be able to read, write, and follow directions. Must have a minimum 1 year (paid or unpaid) caring for the elderly or children.
