The Associate Director of Human Resources serves a key role working with college leadership and staff to support the Colleges mission.

The Associate Director supports the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Human Resources in all human resources functions, specifically serving as a subject matter expert in classification and compensation, training, and employee engagement.

The Associate Director will also assist with employee relations matters, the review, development and implementation of College policies and procedures, and will serve as the colleges Title IX Coordinator.

Examples of Duties

Provide guidance and supervision of HR staff, as necessary, in the absence of the AVP of Human Resources.

Uses surveys, interviews, and other studies to conduct research and make recommendations regarding human resource policies, compensation, and other employment issues.

Researches and explains laws and legal affairs concerning employment to managers, supervisors, and employees.
Maintains and expands knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resources management.
Trains managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing supervisor problems and employee grievances. Develops further training as needed.
Collaborates with leadership on review, development and implementation of policy.
Work with College leadership to support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.

Provides leadership in investigating and resolving complaints of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, gender-related violence, including stalking and intimate partner violence, and related retaliation in accordance with the College's Policy on Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity and Diversity.

Manage the Title IX process, including complaints, as well as informal and formal investigations.

Ensures that appropriate training for employees is conducted and information on the Colleges policies, procedures and resources are communicated and disseminated in accordance with the Department of Education, Office of Civil Rights, Clery Act, etc.

Conduct prompt, equitable and impartial investigations into complaints, including identifying and interviewing parties and identifying, gathering, and assessing information relevant to the investigation; apply relevant policies, including Collective Bargaining Agreements, and make findings on the basis of fact for each complaint.

Exercise judgment regarding the resolution of complaints, including informal and formal investigations.
Provide support to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources for employees and supervisors on departmental issues/concerns, as requested. Identify and integrate best practices into Human Resources practices and processes and in the complaint resolution process.

Lead the annual and ongoing implementation of campus-wide Title IX training and prevention education for faculty, staff and students in conjunction the Dean of Students Office.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications


Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field required; Masters Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.

Minimum five years of increasingly responsible professional human resources administration experience, including experience with classification and compensation, training, and employee relations.

Experience in higher education or public sector is desirable.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning employee and labor relations.
Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.

Most of the job is sedentary; however, occasional periods of light work may be required.
