Role Overview
We are looking for skilled Haul Truck Operators to join our mining team at the project site near Leadville, Colorado. In this role, you will operate Liebherr and Caterpillar haul/dump trucks and other heavy mining equipment, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations in an open-cut mining environment. There is also potential for advancement to handle additional support equipment operations.
Pay Range
- Base pay with an additional project premium for onsite hours worked
- PTO and off-shift holiday pay at base rate
Key Responsibilities
- Perform earthmoving and support tasks in a mining environment under supervision
- Conduct pre/post-trip inspections, refuel trucks, and carry out related duties
- Ensure that job tasks are executed correctly to contribute to cost efficiency and operational effectiveness
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment
- Complete any other assigned duties as necessary
Required Experience
- Experience with Electric and Mechanical Haul Trucks preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team with minimal supervision
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and excellent follow-up capabilities
- Capability to adapt to different onsite schedules based on project requirements
- Minimum one year of experience operating a 100-ton Haul Truck or larger
- Collaborate with project team members to achieve safety, environmental, and production goals
- Authorization to work in the USA without sponsorship from Thiess
- Proficiency in the English language
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Comfort working and living at high altitudes for extended periods
- Capability to work in extreme winter conditions with below-zero temperatures
- Standing for up to 4 hours at a time
- Performing climbing and starting activities multiple times per shift
- Readiness to work 12-hour shifts, including night shifts, and manage fatigue effectively
- No impairments affecting vision or hearing that would impact driving or response to alarms
- Quick reflexes and manual dexterity
- Compliance with equipment weight limits

- Preferred work schedule of 7 days on and 7 days off, with rotating 12-hour shifts
