Job Description and Duties

The School and Child Care IPM Program is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to serve as a member of our data entry team. Under direct supervision, the Scientific Aid will:

Assist with the collection and entry of school pesticide use report (SPUR) forms including: reviewing, analyzing, and accurately entering SPUR forms and other information using departmental data systems. Maintain SPUR forms in an organized filing system to provide for easy records retrieval. Communicate via telephone and email with staff from pest control companies, school districts, and child care centers to correct inaccurate SPUR forms. Search pesticide products/labels and gain knowledge regarding common pesticide products. Write for or contribute creatively to infographics or other outreach documents. Assist the team with outreach and training projects Data entry activities will constitute at least 60% of a typical work week.

Working Conditions

The employee work in a high-rise office building with a climate-controlled environment and artificial lighting. The employee may be required to sit for long periods at a time and must be able to use a computer monitor, mouse, and keyboard for up to 8 hours per day. The employee must be able to handle paperwork weighing up to 10 pounds.

Note: This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework. Regardless of telework eligibility, all employees may be required to report to the position's designated headquarters location, as indicated on their duty statement, at their own expense.
