LaGuardia Community College APEX Accelerator (APEX) was established in 1999 with funding from the US Department of Defense to help Queens businesses market their products to government entities. APEX simplifies the government sales process and provides procurement assistance and training to businesses in Queens, including Minority-Owned, Service Disabled Veteran-Owned, and Women-Owned businesses.

The Procurement Specialist at LaGuardia Community College APEX reports to the Director of APEX and is responsible for daily procurement operations. This includes tasks like downloading solicitations, maintaining documentation, providing statistics, and conducting research. The role involves interacting with government agencies, nonprofits, and businesses from various industries and designations.

This position suits someone passionate about helping businesses engage with the government, improve revenue, and create job opportunities in New York City. The role may require occasional travel, including out-of-state trips up to twice a year.

This is a grant-funded position subject to funding availability.

Other Duties:
  • Provide Level I counseling to business clients on government registration, certification, bidding, and procurement procedures.
  • Organize events such as seminars, workshops, and expos.
  • Research solicitations, awards, and relevant information.
  • Conduct outreach sessions and information sessions.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of relevant experience.
  • One year of business experience and two years of office experience.
  • Proficiency in Adobe, Canva, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Other Qualifications:

  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Above-average computer knowledge.
  • Preferred Spanish-speaking ability.
