Position: Hydro-Excavation Operator

Salary: $35 per hour

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Team: National Hydro Excavation Services

Reporting to: Field Supervisor

The role of a Hydro-Excavation Operator is crucial in completing hydro excavation processes effectively. This person operates a hydro excavation unit to accurately locate and identify underground utilities. As a crew lead, they oversee projects to ensure they are completed safely and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in physical activities like lifting, bending, climbing, and driving
  • Operate automotive equipment consistently
  • Work in proximity to machinery
  • Adapt to changes in temperature
  • Work in dusty environments around dirt
  • Walk long distances and stand for extended periods
  • Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills
  • Utilize reasoning, math, and language abilities
  • Make independent decisions when necessary
  • Occasional travel may be required

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure successful completion of hydro excavation projects, including utility line exposure and debris removal
  • Operate Hydrovac trucks and equipment safely and professionally
  • Supervise Hydrovac Laborers to facilitate employee growth
  • Implement grounding and/or bonding procedures for Hydrovac operations
  • Complete all essential paperwork accurately and within specified deadlines
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and routine maintenance

Requirements:

  • Completion of background check and occupational drug screening
  • Knowledge of underground utilities
  • Proficiency in operating heavy equipment and machines safely
  • Efficient time and equipment management skills to meet project deadlines
  • Effective communication within a team setting
