Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant Position

Join our team at the Animal Research lab in West Jefferson and become part of a dedicated group of professionals committed to animal care and research.

Description:

  • Perform animal husbandry tasks, such as monitoring and feeding animals, collecting data, sanitizing equipment, and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Adhere to assigned Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) promptly, ensuring compliance with regulations and following health and safety protocols.
  • Record and review data manually or electronically, maintaining quality and accuracy standards.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of laboratory equipment and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate research procedures and results to teammates involved in inhalation studies.
  • Collaborate with other technicians to complete daily tasks including cage wash/facilities maintenance, inhalation studies, and chemistry-related activities.
  • Assist in training new staff and less experienced team members when needed.
  • Identify deviations, unusual occurrences, and concerns, promptly notifying the appropriate individuals and contributing to corrective measures.
  • Engage in cross-training opportunities in other laboratory areas.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician.
  • Proficiency in handling large animals.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Reliable, coachable, and motivated to learn and follow directions.
