PURPOSE

The Scheduler plays a key role in managing the scheduling process for projects from inception to completion while overseeing a portfolio of projects. The Project Scheduler reports to the Projects Planning and Scheduling Lead.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • Support the development and upkeep of consistent and realistic project plans and control structures.
  • Understand and monitor interactions between the assigned project and others in the portfolio.
  • Create integrated project schedules by developing activities, logic, resource loading, and progress.
  • Ensure compliance with planning and progress monitoring procedures to maintain project processes.
  • Provide regular and comprehensive schedule status reports to Project Management, including monthly progress updates, forecasts, critical path, and trend analyses.
  • Collaborate with project engineering personnel to identify key schedule sensitivities and drivers.
  • Review and validate contractors' progress reports for schedule updates.
  • Contribute to developing project risk profiles and integrating them into plans using analysis methods.
  • Monitor schedule risk mitigation efforts, critical paths, float consumption, and schedule contingency release.
  • Utilize standard tools, project standards, and control procedures for scheduling.
  • Assist in preparing input data for benchmarking activities.
  • Facilitate knowledge retention by delivering closeout data at project completion.
  • Maintain a historical database of scheduling activities, durations, and cycle times.
  • Develop Schedule Basis documentation to outline project plan development.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities and manage scheduling workload with contractors.
  • Provide a schedule package suitable for project stage gate approval teams.

AUTHORITY

The Scheduler reports to the Projects Planning & Scheduling Lead and collaborates with Project Engineers, Schedulers, and Estimators.

COMPETENCES REQUIRED

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US full-time for entities other than the current employer.
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two (2) years, or six (6) years of experience in refining, manufacturing, or petrochemical projects or turnarounds.
  • Minimum four (4) years of direct scheduling and planning experience for projects, turnarounds, and/or construction.
  • Strong understanding of Project Controls.
  • Proficient in using MS Office suite software (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with expertise in pivot tables, vlookup, charts, and linking capabilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6; certification in basic and advanced training modules preferred.
