St. Rita Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA is looking for a devoted Catholic to take on the role of Director of Youth Ministry (DYM) and Director of Religious Education (DRE).

  • This position needs someone with excellent organizational skills and an engaging personality to handle the various responsibilities effectively.

  • Proficiency in the Spanish language is a must.


Candidates will collaborate with the pastor to ensure that Youth Ministry and Religious Education cater adequately to the needs of both English- and Spanish-speaking parishioners.

  • Responsibilities in Youth Ministry involve organizing meetings for high school and middle school students, managing retreats, overseeing special events like WorkCamp, and supervising volunteers.

  • Religious Education duties include coordinating weekly classes, recruiting, training, and assisting catechists, planning for First Communion and Confirmation, and managing the Homeschool Atrium program.

Working hours will be flexible, totaling 40 hours per week with 2-3 evenings allocated (including Sunday night youth ministry).


An ideal candidate for this role will be a dedicated practicing Catholic, adept at interacting with individuals of all age groups, particularly youth, and possessing a robust knowledge of the Catholic Faith.


Applicants should hold a Bachelor's Degree and be proficient in MS Office applications, especially Word and Excel. Those lacking a Master Catechists Certification will be required to pursue one.
