In 1979, Tom Leavell founded Leavell Investment Management, Inc. in Mobile, Alabama. Tom saw a need in the financial services industry for high-net-worth families to have their money managed by a firm that had a fiduciary duty to act in their best interests. Today with over $2.4 billion in assets under management (as of 2/29/24), and offices in Mobile and Birmingham, the firm continues with this approach to asset management, always providing an unwavering commitment to our clients' needs and objectives.

Our collaborative approach differentiates us from other investment advisory firms. We assign three specific team members to each client account: an Investment Counselor (IC), a Portfolio Manager (PM), and a Client Services Representative (CSR). These team members work in concert to listen to clients and execute their objectives.

We are currently searching for a Portfolio Manager to join our Birmingham office. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in our industry (CFA, CIMA or MBA preferred) allowing them to confidently serve as a generalist investor helping our clients meet their investing needs.

Specific Portfolio Manager responsibilities include:

  • Developing specific asset allocations for individual clients in collaboration with the assigned IC
  • Utilizing Leavell's existing trading platforms to construct client portfolios
  • Rebalancing accounts regularly to maintain an agreed-upon asset allocation
  • Addressing specific challenges within client portfolios such as asset concentrations and liquidity needs
  • Meeting with clients regularly to review the performance of portfolios and understand changing client circumstances that could impact the construction of the portfolio
  • Support ICs in new business development and client retention

Leavell allows each of our PMs discretion in managing the investment decisions within their assigned client accounts, as we believe in placing the portfolio decision maker (the PM) in direct contact with the client. Our PMs share a common belief in the power of diversification, the importance of client education, and acting in the client's best interest. A candidate must be confident in developing and implementing their investment philosophy, and co-existing with other Leavell PMs who may not always use the same investment approach.
