JOB TITLE: TCEQ Campaign Director

ABOUT THE COMPANY: Public Citizen is a national, nonprofit advocacy organization founded in 1971 to represent the public interest in Congress, the executive branch, and the courts.

We are in search of a dedicated individual for the role of TCEQ Campaign Coordinator. The TCEQ Campaign Director will spearhead an effort to ensure accountability at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), focusing on safeguarding public health and the environment from neglect.



Responsibilities:
  • Monitor TCEQ activities and provide critiques of the agency.
  • Attend TCEQ meetings, review agendas, and identify priorities.
  • Develop and manage a roster of issue-area experts for specific agency matters.
  • Coordinate media plan and serve as a point of contact for media relations.
  • Direct the creation of reports with data-driven insights.
  • Prioritize agency actions for potential media campaigns.
  • Provide testimony at TCEQ meetings and establish networks with environmental stakeholders.
  • Produce updates on agency actions and public response efforts.
  • Share opportunities with stakeholders and coordinate responses.
  • Build community engagement and promote public accountability.
  • Assist in educating the public about the agency's role and impact.
  • Provide technical assistance for public participation at TCEQ.

Qualifications:
  • Education: College degree preferred.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of Texas environmental policy.
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Work Experience: 5-7 years of experience with TCEQ.
  • Capabilities: Self-motivated, team player, adaptable to changing environments.
