  • Position Overview:


The Site Safety & Operations Coordinator (SSOC) is pivotal in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the after-school site, prioritizing the safety of staff and students.

Responsibilities include managing opening and closing procedures, adhering to BGCSL, School Site, and District policies, and ensuring quality process safety performance.

The coordinator will oversee Youth Development Professional onboarding training and collaborate with the Operations Team to enhance safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

Daily Operations Management:
Supervise daily operations, ensuring compliance with BGCSL, School Site, and District policies. Implement comprehensive safety plans and emergency procedures. Conduct regular safety drills (fire, earthquake, lockdowns) and update emergency preparedness plans. Liaise with the Director of Club Safety and Operations to align on day-to-day site safety and operations. Attend safety-related meetings to ensure continuity.

Safety and Compliance:
Maintain records of safety inspections, incident reports, and other relevant documentation. Collaborate with host school administration to facilitate facility usage and resource availability. Monitor communication channels for updates and urgent issues, maintaining connectivity with relevant staff and management. Ensure all site staff are trained in first aid and CPR in collaboration with Operations / Human Resources.

Incident Management:
Lead incident investigations at the site level and support the execution of corrective/preventative actions to ensure safety compliance. Perform and record monthly safety inspections, documenting all findings and required actions to ensure compliance.

Training and Development:
Conduct on-site staff onboarding sessions, in collaboration with Learning & Development and Human Resources. Coordinate staff training on relevant safety procedures, protocols, and topics. Maintain and update trainer certifications as needed or required by BGCSL or other agency regulations.

Student and Facility Management:
Ensure accurate enrollment via MyClubHub and assign students to appropriate classes. Maintain site cleanliness and functionality daily. Monitor classroom activities and snack/supper room operations during mealtimes. Oversee school sites opening/closing procedures and facilitate pick-up windows and student sign-in/out processes. Monitor entry and exit of all persons on campus via a log or tracking database.

Collaboration and

Communication:

Communicate regularly with the Program Director and other stakeholders to provide updates on safety performance and identify areas for improvement.

Collaborate with district safety partners to align initiatives, protocols, and best practices.

RequirementsQualifications & Experience:
Two years of relevant experience working with school-aged youth outside of a daycare environment. Prior experience with site safety & operations is a plus. BA or some college experience preferred. Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record preferred. First aid and CPR certified.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Commitment to the entire academic school year, including training dates and availability for after-school closeout operations.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering strong working relationships at all staff levels and effectively engaging with students, parents, staff, and external agencies.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

Preferred experience includes incident investigation and root cause analysis, with the ability to report accurately on safety and operational issues to program teams, school administrators, and other stakeholders.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Familiarity with technology tools for facility management, safety monitoring, and communication. Ability to manage budgets, prioritize daily tasks, and maintain focus on long-term goals.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Frequently required to stand. Frequently required to walk. Frequently required to sit. Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl. Continually required to talk or hear. Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions. Occasionally exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials (Communicable diseases in an office environment including COVID-19, common cold, and flu viruses. Negative TB screen required).

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment may vary from location; light to moderate.
