About the Role

This pivotal position, reporting directly to the Mold Process Leader, entails vital general and specific responsibilities as outlined below:

Your Responsibilities

  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies and business goals in overseeing daily operations.

  • Uphold all customer quality benchmarks as well as Decostar's standards.
  • Execute daily multifaceted job assignments as needed and in accordance with departmental protocols and work instructions.
  • Promote a culture of respect, collaboration, ethical behavior, and equitable transactions across all our dealings with internal and external customers and suppliers.

  • Enforce and follow Decostar Industries' health and safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment for all stakeholders.
  • Embrace the Charter's safety and health at work principle by rectifying unsafe practices, mitigating the risk of employee injuries stemming from hazardous conditions.
  • Promptly address any health and safety concerns or suggestions raised by Decostar employees in a constructive and proactive manner.
  • Promptly report any accidents, incidents, or near misses to the Safety Department and complete requisite Accident Reporting Forms within 24 hours.
  • Conduct all mandatory safety-related inspections diligently.
  • Avoid installing or altering any equipment or machinery that could compromise employee health and safety.
  • Confirm that all employees under your supervision have received necessary training to execute their duties safely.
  • Establish and uphold a consistent and replicable molding process, leveraging data insights, statistical tools, team-based issue resolution, documentation, and effective communication of modifications.
  • Continuously oversee and troubleshoot all injection molding-related processes, responding to feedback from internal and external customers and engaging in problem-solving endeavors.
  • Supervise the activities of Process Technicians, Mold Setters, and Material Handlers, ensuring coverage for vacancies and being available when needed.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, development, and ongoing training requirements for Process Technicians, Mold Setters, and Material Handlers, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Offer unbiased and objective information, when requested, to support Performance Appraisal and Corrective Action processes.
  • Support Departmental KOI goals to accomplish business objectives related to uptime, part quality, mold change time, and cycle time.
  • Contribute to the development of tools and other initiatives aligned with departmental expectations, continuously striving to surpass expectations.
  • Lead efforts to reduce cycle time in collaboration with Molding APQP for optimized cell layout.
  • Create and install secondary equipment in coordination with APQP engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Collaborate with raw material suppliers to drive cost efficiencies and develop new products as necessitated.
  • Ensure availability of the latest models, charts, tools, and labor standards.
  • Develop and implement PFMEA's, Continuous Improvement Plans, Control Plans, and work instructions within the Molding Department.
  • Adhere to ISO 9000/TS16949 procedures pertaining to process requirements and documentation.
  • Uphold stringent standards of cleanliness within the Injection Molding and RIM area.
  • Ensure all accidents are promptly reported, and investigations are concluded within 24 hours.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Technical Associate's Degree mandatory. In the absence of a degree, ten years of related work experience may serve as a substitute. Concurrent work experience and ongoing education towards a degree will be taken into account.
  • Coursework focusing on injection molding deemed beneficial.
  • A minimum of ten years' experience in injection molding preferred.
  • Prior experience in plastics processing and tool setting is essential.
  • Familiarity with automation systems and controls is advantageous.
