Gibson McIlvain is more than just materials and with our comprehensive architectural millwork facility, we offer custom millwork services from interior trim and cabinetry to exterior siding, pergolas, and furniture.

The Lumber Yard Manager's primary role is to oversee the operation of the kilns, sorter, and stacker. The right candidate is an excellent leader who consistently develops and improves department processing while positively motivating his/her team to meet production goals and order filling needs. Coordinate with relevant managers/supervisors to develop training and cross training for department roles.

Some Responsibilities Include:Oversee and manage the entire operation for kiln drying, order pulling crews (including forklift operators), sorter, stacker, and maintenance department. Manage receiving of all green, dry domestic, and imports, of hard woods. Manage a team of 20 to 25 employees, to include training and cross training, performance reviews, safety, and disciplinary actions. Positively motivate team regarding safety standards and drive to meet next level safety efforts. Communicates with operation's team daily to meet production goals and order filling needs. Consistently evaluates the efficiency of operation procedures and objectives and apply improvements and/or necessary changes. Responsible for scheduling and coordinating required maintenance for kilns, sorter, and stacker.Work alongside team members when required due to staffing or production need. Required overtime based on production needs, to include on call hours. Requirements:Minimum of 5 years of overall experience in production Knowledge operating kilns or must be willing to learnStrong safety knowledge and standardsFamiliar with NHLA, National Hardwood Lumber AssociationKnowledge of green and dry lumber, stacking, sorting, and proper storageAbility to operate heavy equipment, e.g. heavy duty forklift, telehandlers, and skid loaderKnowledge of Microsoft products, Excel, Outlook, Word, TeamsAbility to positively motivate team members High school diploma or higherRequired Soft Skills:Excellent problem-solving skillsStrong organizational skills and ability to multitaskAbility to facilitate necessary changes dependent on staffingExcellent communication skillsDetail orientedPhysical Requirements:Standing and walking for extended periods of timeAbility to handle and lift up to 75lbs unassistedCompany Benefits:Eligibility effective on the first day of the month following 60 days of continuous employmentHealth and Dental Insurance401(k) Retirement Plan, company matches up to 10% of employee contributionsCompany paid Life Insurance Policy; value is twice the employee's salary with a cap at $150,000.00Company paid Short- and Long-Term Disability Policy; pays 60% of your salary while you are unable to workPaid Holidays, Vacation and Sick time
