Join Our Team as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse / Physician Assistant at Brown Cancer Center - Bone Marrow Transplant

The role of the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) at Brown Cancer Center - Bone Marrow Transplant involves providing assessment, management, and outcome evaluation for patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

As an APRN/PA, you will act as a valuable resource in educating patients, families, professional nurses, and staff. You will also serve as a liaison between patients, families, and UofL Physicians staff, as well as actively engage in clinical research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the physical and psychosocial status of clients through interviews, health history, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies for both inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Collaborate with physicians to formulate treatment plans and follow-up on health problems.
  • Write prescriptions for medication, blood tests, diagnostic studies, and therapeutic measures.
  • Interpret findings of studies/tests and relay relevant information to collaborating physicians.
  • Evaluate care quality, recommend improvements, and facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans.
  • Provide symptom management for side effects of oncologic treatment and assist with admissions.
  • Maintain oversight of survivorship program and clinic.
  • Promote evidenced-based nursing practice by participating in clinical research.

Requirements for APRN:

  • Master of Nursing degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as an APRN in Kentucky.
  • National certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current DEA certificate without restriction.
  • Current CPR and BLS certifications.

Requirements for PA:

  • Current certification and licensure in Kentucky and/or Indiana as a Physician Assistant.
  • Professional experience in subspecialty preferred.
  • Current ACLS/BLS certifications required.
