Job Description
Summary of Position:
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Director, Mental Health, to oversee psychiatric prescribing staff within the NYC jail system. Reporting to the Chief of Mental Health in the Division of Correctional Health Services, this full-time position entails clinical oversight, management, supervision, and innovation of psychiatric services. The role involves ensuring coordinated and personalized in-jail patient care, as well as post-jail community services, in collaboration with various stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong diagnostic and treatment skills, with a focus on psychopharmacology and safe medication administration
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for collaborative work
- Effective leadership skills with a knack for mentorship and education
- Several years of experience in clinical work, supervision, and management
- Certification in Forensic Psychiatry
Qualification Requirements:
1) Minimal Requirements
a) M.D. or D.O. degree with active NY State license and completion of psychiatric residency
b) Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry
Detailed Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Overseeing clinical care by psychiatric provider staff
- Personnel management, including recruitment and retention strategies
- Direct supervision of Senior Psychiatrists
- Collaboration with various stakeholders on mental health issues
- Ensuring compliance with standards of care and policies
- Participation in Quality Assurance programs
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet specific criteria including medical school graduation, internship completion, NY State medical license, board certification, and relevant experience.
