Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, you will be responsible for the repair and preventative maintenance of electrical equipment at the Billings Refinery. Plant equipment includes motors, motor starters and controls (both low voltage and medium voltage), switchgear, power cable, electromechanical and microprocessor protective relays, and low voltage lighting / distribution circuits.

Key activities include:

Understand and comply with all Refinery safety procedures and policies, including electrical safety with training on NFPE 70E Perform all tasks associated with electrical equipment repair and maintenance including but not limited to: disassembly, inspection, repair or replacement of parts, re-assembly, final installation / testing, and start-up Properly use common test equipment such a multi-meters, relay test equipment, insulation resistance test devices (e.g. Megger, hi-pot, ductor, TTR, Battery Testing) and similar devices for troubleshooting, inspection and testing Maintain housekeeping in assigned areas according to Refinery standards. Perform work off of fixed, temporary or portable elevated platforms. Adjust equipment to meet operating specifications Operate bucket trucks, hydraulic lift, forklift, overhead cranes

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.

Qualifications for this role:

Previous work experience related to repair and maintenance of process electrical equipment required
  • 5+ years industrial experience in electrical maintenance preferred with state electrical license or trade school
  • Experience in performing work on all types of electrical equipment listed above rated 120 volts AC through 15KV AC and, 12 volts DC to 132 volts DC preferred
  • Experience with electrical test equipment and solid-state relay/breaker controls preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of Double ended power systems preferred
  • Knowledge of backup generator systems preferred
  • Knowledge of Motor Operated Valves preferred
  • Knowledge DC battery backup systems preferred
Strong commitment to being a leader in personal safety and quality required Ability and willingness to work in inclement weather, work at heights, and work overtime as required (both scheduled and unscheduled) Ability to read and understand electrical drawings including one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control schematics required Computer skills required Ability to work as part of a two-person team and on a crew required Effective communication both orally and in writing required Commitment to work well independent of direct supervision required Capability to achieve goals independently and contribute as a team player required Ability to combine analytical skills and creativity in solving problems required Ability to identify ways to improve processes and controls required Strong work ethic and accountability required
