POSITION SUMMARY:

This role will offer expert technical guidance in process engineering to the Technical & Production sectors. The incumbent will educate, mentor, evaluate, refine, implement, and bolster continuous improvement mechanisms to elevate business aims and operational efficiency. This may involve designing protocols and methods for production and packaging, conducting validation assessments, and drafting/executing validation documents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
  • Enhance Expertise in Product & Process within our Factory and Technical Application Group (TAG) teams
  • Educate, mentor, and evaluate factory specialists to enhance their processing capabilities
  • Offer advice and coaching to TAG team members to enhance their comprehension and understanding of the impact of processes on new product development
  • Collaborate with R&D & suppliers to craft instructional content for our fundamental processes
  • Optimize and upgrade current processes throughout our manufacturing landscape
  • Identify, arrange, and conduct pertinent process capability assessments
  • Develop or fine-tune processing equipment standards and routines for existing machinery. This includes user requirement specifications, operational principles, basic conditions, operational benchmarks, cleaning procedures, inspection protocols, lubrication practices, maintenance routines, startup and shutdown procedures, changeover processes, etc. Educate, mentor, and evaluate adherence to these standards and routines across our manufacturing network.
  • Conceptualize, evaluate, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in processes that enhance safety, quality, efficiency, reliability, cleanliness, yield, cost-effectiveness, etc., in our facilities
  • Apply in-depth technical know-how to projects and predicaments. Exhibit highly developed analytical skills and utilize effective methodologies (e.g., Go-See-Think-Do, Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.) to deliver optimal solutions
  • Collaborate with Engineering and R&D on the innovation, installation, and commissioning of new processes
  • Conduct pilot-scale experiments, large-scale trial operations, and initial production runs with new machinery or processes
  • Formulate or enhance and document equipment standards and procedures for both existing and new processes
  • Cooperate with Corporate Engineering and R&D to set and formalize project priorities, technical criteria, schedules, and budgets
  • During the construction/implementation phases of new capabilities or expansion projects, validate compliance of new production lines with divisional standards
  • Coordinate site approval tests for crucial equipment to confirm adherence to technical performance standards
  • Lead or aid in the commissioning, validation, and qualification of new processing systems/equipment/lines for current or new products
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) is obligatory, with a preference for a degree in Engineering or a related Operations field
  • Practical experience in Continuous Improvement implementation or equivalent CI methodologies
  • Travel is anticipated as part of the role, estimated at up to 50%. Position based in Solon OH, Arlington, VA Headquarters, or one of our designated factory locations for convenience
EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 8 years of engineering or process-related experience in the food and beverage manufacturing industry
  • Experience at manufacturing facilities is vital to establish credibility when collaborating with Factory Managers and teams
  • Comprehensive understanding of factory operations - machinery, automation, maintenance, production strategies, and quality control processes and metrics
  • Hands-on involvement in continuous improvement initiatives with proven, consistent incremental enhancements to influence factory operations. Experience in industrial performance is advantageous

  • Proficiency in integrating safety measures in process/equipment design
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Strong analytical and problems-solving capabilities
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups, including managers, technicians, operators, and subject matter experts
