Role Description:

A System Engineer is required to assist in adding new functionalities to a sophisticated system with precise interface, performance, and security needs. The chosen candidate will offer system engineering expertise in various areas such as architecture, design, development, requirements analysis, data flow, network design/implementation, testing, and system documentation. Responsibilities include analyzing user requirements, system architecture, system requirements specifications, providing systems engineering expertise, and developing system architecture and design documentation. The role also involves supporting system development, implementation planning, assessing system engineering plans, system integration, and test plans. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to the development of system configuration documentation and perform engineering activities like risk assessments and analyzing alternatives for system-related issues. Defining task success criteria and test procedures is also part of the role.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support for system engineering of large-scale systems and interfacing systems in a complex network environment.
  • Collaborate with program management, integration engineers, test engineers, and other team members in an Agile setting to meet requirements and address issues.
  • Implement system engineering practices to ensure proper engineering rigor in all tasks.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal technical professionals and customer representatives.
  • Actively participate in Program Increment Planning and Agile team activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in designing and developing large integrated complex systems.
  • Experience in requirements verification traceability.
  • Understanding of secure systems engineering and development.
  • Software development or shell scripting experience, software detailed design experience, and/or software/system testing experience.
  • Experience in system architecture, design, and development, requirements analysis, data flow design/analysis, network design/implementation, testing, technical system documentation.
  • Ability to work on multiple systems simultaneously and support system engineering activities in Agile teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective planning and task prioritization abilities.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, primarily to Maryland.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 8 years of experience.
  • Experience in transitioning legacy systems to new architectures.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering experience.
  • Risk Management/Risk Register experience.
  • Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology.
  • Technical documentation development experience.
