Job Objective:

The Education Specialist II develops and delivers content to educators, students, and informal education communities through public education events, experiential learning opportunities along with design challenges and competitions, student enrichment, and virtual learning.

Collect data on activity/project accomplishments and effectiveness through Lessons learned, reports, data collection, and briefings. Creates design, development, curriculum, guides, lesson plans, support materials, and professional development for formal and informal learning communities. Employs knowledge of current best practices and research in implementing NSTEM activities, projects, and programs.

Collaborations with NASA mission directorates, academia, government entities, professional and community organizations, and commercial partners to advance NASA's mission and the NSTEM objective.

Project Manager/Deputy Program Manager

Background:

NQuest is an innovative and immersive half-day STEM program developed through a partnership between NASA Ames Research Center, the esteemed Chabot Space and Science Center and NASA Office of STEM Engagement.

The program aims to ignite the passion for scientific exploration and advance STEM education among 6th-8th grade students, educators, and the wider community through an inquiry-based learning approach.

NQuest is a reach for both local and national levels, aiming to make a significant impact within the local community while extending its reach to a broader audience across the nation.

Operating year-round, NQuest offers an extended learning opportunity for students, ensuring continuous engagement and enrichment.

The program operates on a first-come, first-served model, with priority given to underrepresented students and schools during the core academic year.

This prioritization reflects the program's commitment to promoting equity and increasing access to STEM education for those who traditionally face barriers.


Essential Functions:

  • Monitor project timelines and task allocations updating management tools with status for assigned activities in real time
  • Coordinate and collaborate across team to assure that all work products content and functionality are of highest quality and informed with uptodate information
  • Develop SOPs and QC procedures; and update to reflect efficiencies, best practices, and lessons learned
  • Contributes to client progress and status reports (i.e., monthly reports, weekly registration metrics, etc.)
  • Documents all expenses in ODC tracker
  • Assist with market research / literature reviews and present findings
  • Prepare and maintain project file folders with all completed work products, artifacts, and deliverables
  • Contribute to quality control process to include peer review of work products and coordinating QC of deliverables
  • Document quality control of work products and deliverables prior to delivery to client and/or management
  • Stay up to date on necessary technology and processes and show initiative in capturing, documenting, and implementing best practices and lessons learned to improve quality and efficiency of services and solutions

Work Environment:

The work environment is a typical office setting. Mondays and Tuesdays at Chabot for virtual sessions, Wednesdays at Ames, and Thursdays and Fridays at Chabot.

Physical demands:

The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, and occasional walking and standing.
