Clinical Research Coordinator Role at Dept. of Orthopaedics - Hand Division

The Clinical Research Coordinator I (CRC) for the Orthopaedic Hand Service plays a key role in managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of clinical research studies conducted within the service. This individual is responsible for various tasks essential for the coordination of these studies, ensuring smooth execution and efficiency.

  • Oversee all aspects of clinical research studies within the Orthopaedic Hand Service
  • Handle IRB protocol development and maintenance, candidate screening, clinical evaluation, and patient follow-up
  • Collect and maintain data, as well as manage databases for all research projects within the group
  • Collaborate closely with the Hand and Upper Extremity Surgeons to optimize the Hand Research Program for the benefit of patients

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical:

  • Serve as the primary clinical research coordinator for the Orthopaedic Hand Research Program
  • Provide detailed information about research projects to potential participants
  • Offer counseling and support to orthopaedic hand research patients
  • Act as a resource for patients and healthcare providers
  • Ensure patient compliance with care protocols through follow-up communication

Research:

  • Lead the design and composition of Orthopaedic Hand-related research grants
  • Handle data collection procedures and facilitate patient enrollment
  • Coordinate submission of human studies committee reports
  • Assist in data analysis and research activities for the program

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining effective collaboration with patients and healthcare professionals
  • Proficient in clinical assessments and research decision-making

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a science or research-related field
