As the Director, Data Engineering within Enterprise Information Security (EIS), you'll guide your teams to drive and manage high-quality execution and operational excellence, as they deliver technology solutions that meet business needs and maximize customer experience, growth and retention. This is a key leadership role within the EIS Security Engineering team. We are looking for a strong leader who is collaborative, a self-starter, can take ownership/ accountability and drive results. This role will involve managing and working with distributed, global teams with multiple stakeholders. This person needs to be comfortable dealing with complexity and ambiguity.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management of teams responsible for security software development and the introduction of new technologies in the Data warehousing
  • Lead the overall EIS data warehousing strategy
  • Work directly with Sr. leaders and stakeholders to support the growth and optimization of EIS data warehousing platform
  • Demonstrate leadership in the context of security engineering and be an evangelist for engineering best practices and secure data warehousing strategies
  • Stay abreast of leading-edge technologies in the industry evaluating secure data warehousing technologies
  • Encourage the growth of direct and indirect reports through skills development, objectives and goal setting; Holds direct reports accountable for meeting performance standards and departmental performance goals; mentors staff; measures staff performance and completes regular performance reviews and ranking

Required Qualifications:

  • Computer Science Engineering, or 5 years of equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on coding in any of the Java with Spring/Springboot, Kafka, Maven/Gradle
  • 5+ years of agile software product delivery and management experience, SAFe experience
  • 5+ years of experience with software automation including test automation, deployment automation, database management automation, operations automation
  • 5+ years of global team experience working in a metrics based organization
  • 4+ years of experience with Data warehousing solutions ( snowflake preferred) and Open Source highly scalable data solution
  • 4+ years of experience leading development using modern software engineering and product development tools including Agile, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, DevOps etc.
  • 3+ years of experience delivering software to a Public and/or Private cloud utilizing IaaS and/or PaaS cloud paradigms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the healthcare industry
  • Solid technical background with eagerness to learn all aspects of security (network, app, system)
  • Familiarity with one or more (Python, node, Golang)
  • Proven excellent collaboration skills and techniques to create innovative market leading solutions

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
