The Digital Manufacturing Systems team is seeking a highly motivated software developer to help imagine and invent technology used to perfect the next generation of Ford automobiles. Our development stack is varied with a high concentration in Swift and Java for factory iOS applications but also involves a wide variety of technologies including low-level and server-side programming. You will be building software and collaborating across a broad spectrum of teams and various factory, IT, and testing teams to design and develop innovative solutions for Ford's factory lines. You will also enjoy responsibility for maintaining and improving existing software.

  • Creative thinking about highly complex challenges at scale
  • Anticipating the needs of our end customers often before they do
  • Create tools, dashboards and large scale data stores.
  • Perform code reviews and redesign existing
  • Develop unit test plans and integration plans and help debug production issues
  • Utilize Git, Git Flow, and bug tracking systems in day to day development processes
  • Provide constructive feedback for testability and suitable solutions relying on data to support technical decisions
  • Some travel will be required (10-15%)

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
  • High attention to detail
  • Strongly empathetic with the ability to partner with broad variety of internal partner teams and internal clients
  • Swift development experience
  • Python development experience
  • C, C++, or Java development experience
  • Experience with data persistence and manipulation (snowflake, splunk, etc.)
  • Experience or strong interest in Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning (college coursework, certificates, experience)

Ideal Qualifications:

  • 5 plus years experience with Swift/Objective-C
  • 5 plus years experience with C or C++ 5 plus years experience with Python or Ruby or Erlang
  • 5 plus years experience implementing Actor Model based software solutions
  • 10 plus years experience in software engineering or Masters Degree/Ph.D. in CS
  • 10 plus years experience in Machine Learning or Masters Degree/Ph.D. in AI
