Position Overview:
We are in search of a dynamic and analytical Senior Transportation Analyst to join our team.
This role will involve understanding and analyzing carrier transportation rates in depth, with the aim of implementing cost reduction strategies while ensuring optimal transportation performance.
This includes comparing proposed rates to existing carrier rates and modeling various scenarios.By utilizing detailed knowledge of our carrier partners and transportation rates, you will conduct analyses to address business inquiries and identify concerns within our transportation operations.
When challenges arise in rating or reconciliation processes, you will dive deep into the root causes.
This investigation will engage multiple stakeholders and will require a blend of analytical skills and project management expertise.
Our team operates across functions, which means you will collaborate closely with our internal finance and data science teams, as well as our external partners.
At times, you may also collaborate with our product and engineering teams to integrate necessary code base or data source adjustments.
Given the dynamic nature of our systems, we rely on you to provide guidance.
Your Responsibilities:
Gain insights into and analyze carrier rates, and estimate the financial and operational implications of rate adjustments on the network.
Work across teams to implement rate changes within the Flexport system, validate rates using your knowledge of carrier rating algorithms.
Evaluate and model transportation carrier proposals to drive cost efficiencies, enhance delivery speed, and optimize network coverage.
Enhance the cost tracking and reconciliation process by delving into transportation cost influencers, such as shipping surcharges.
Leverage in-depth knowledge of the final delivery network to precisely forecast transportation costs for upcoming periods, incorporating assumptions for industry shifts, annual rate adjustments, etc., and offer carrier cost insights to the Pricing team for domestic and global fulfillment.
Cultivate strong relationships with counterparts at external partners to comprehend and enhance rate proposals.
Document operational procedures and create internal documentation (including process flow charts and S&OPs) to streamline operations and standardize terminologies and definitions.
Requirements:
Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a similar field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation analysis or cost control.
Proficient in systems and reporting (e.g., strong SQL and Excel skills).
Sharp analytical abilities to interpret intricate data, model scenarios, and derive actionable insights.
Outstanding communication and collaboration aptitudes, with the capability to work efficiently across teams.
Prior experience in the logistics or supply chain sector is advantageous.
A focus on compliance to ensure regulatory compliance and to maintain a positive relationship with Flexport's regulators, given our heavily regulated industry.
Demonstrated collaboration with internal and external business associates to enhance operational performance, efficiency, and quality.
Clear communication regarding decisions, issues, risks, and new processes with external partners.
Superior prioritization skills for timely resolutions based on the seriousness and impact of the situation.
