Job Description and Duties

PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I (PERMANENT FULL-TIME) / SIERRA DISTRICT / LAKE TAHOE SECTOR NORTH / PLUMAS EUREKA STATE PARK

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The reporting location for this position is Plumas Eureka State Park maintenance shop, located in Blairsden, CA. This position will work under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the professional maintenance team at Lake Tahoe Sector. This position is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of some of the most beautiful parks, campgrounds and beaches in the state of California. The primary responsibility for this position is facility maintenance and housekeeping at Plumas Eureka SP. The Park Maintenance Worker I is responsible for the maintenance and housekeeping operations at Plumas Eureka SP Visitor Center and campgrounds, and may assist with operations at Donner Memorial SP, Tahoe SRA, Truckee River Outlet (TRO), Kings Beach SRA, as well as several day-use beaches on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. This position performs a full range of duties including facility maintenance, restroom cleaning, garbage pickup, litter removal, campground maintenance, groundskeeping, sand removal, snow removal and resource protection. This position requires working outdoors during inclement weather including subfreezing temperatures.

The incumbents work schedule will be Friday to Tuesday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Working Conditions

Typical working conditions include working outdoor year round at an elevation of approximately 5,200 feet. Depending on the time of year, normal weather will include snow, wind, rain, sun, sleet, and below freezing temperatures and heat up to 90 degrees. Working on uneven terrain, inside large vehicles, in maintenance shops, on top of buildings, or inside offices is also typical.
